Compare your current job with a new offer, after tax

Two offers, rates or working patterns on one annual basis. PayLens applies Australian tax and job related costs to both, then reports the differences in cash, package and hours. It never ranks them.

Base pay and annual bonus for each. Super at 12%, income tax and Medicare are applied for you.

How PayLens compares two options

Every comparison runs the same three steps, so a job change, a contract rate and a four-day week are measured on the same basis.

Step one

Everything is converted to one basis

Base, super, bonus, equity and allowances are restated on the same annual footing, so an inclusive package can be read against a base plus super offer.

Step two

Australian tax is applied, then costs

Income tax, Medicare levy and any study loan are applied for 2026 to 2027. Job related costs such as travel, parking and childcare come off after tax.

Step three

Differences are reported, not ranked

You see the change in spendable cash, total package, effective hourly pay and hours. Missing information is flagged rather than assumed.

Questions about comparing offers

Answers use Australian rules for the 2026 to 2027 year.

Read the pay and tax guides

Is $180,000 including super better than $165,000 plus super?

The package including super works out to a base of $160,714 with $19,286 of employer super. The base plus super offer gives $165,000 of base and $19,800 of super, so it is $4,800 higher in total package and about $200 a month more in take-home pay.

What contractor day rate matches my permanent salary?

PayLens works out a break-even day rate by pricing paid leave, public holidays, sick leave, expected downtime, insurance, accounting and self funded super against the permanent package. For $150,000 plus super with four weeks leave, the break-even rate is about $847 a day.

Does the comparison include superannuation?

Yes. Employer super is calculated at the 12 per cent rate for 2026 to 2027 and shown as a separate line, so a package quoted as inclusive of super can be read against one quoted on top of super.

How is commuting counted?

Commuting is counted as money and time separately. Travel cost per office day reduces spendable cash, and hours are reported per year. PayLens does not put a dollar value on your time unless you turn that option on.

What happens when an offer is missing information?

Anything not supplied appears as an amber assumption chip on the card it belongs to. Nothing is filled in silently, and a bonus with unknown reliability is shown at both 50 and 100 per cent.

Does PayLens tell me which job to take?

No. Every view reports differences between the options on pay, super, hours and job related costs. The judgement stays with you.
